Professor Barnes is probably one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is so rude. She doesn't care about her students, only cares about the art. Her lectures are so boring and you have to take handwritten notes. Her tests are hard as hell and don't cover any of the information in class. You need to read the 500 page book. It is the worst class- my hardest class. I have a D. She gives the most inconvenient and hardest extra credit. She is an old hag that needs to retire.

Pros: If you attend class you will do OK because she does a lot of random in class assignments, especially when there are a lot of absences. The only really good thing about this class is that the final is accumulative and she uses the old tests and gives them to you to study off of, it's the only A or B I'll get in the class
Cons: Hard grader. Expects you to be an artist. Not friendly. The tests are HARD even if you go to class.
She is a mean woman...

Pros: Natalie is a really good instructor. She lets you know when you don't need to write things down and just lets you enjoy learning about art, rather than constantly writing notes. She is honest and enthusiastic about what she's teaching about. She doesn't go through material too quickly! If you study, the tests aren't bad. Very little homework.
Cons: The majority of the class is lecture. No lecture notes posted on-line, so if you miss class hopefully you have a friend who can take notes for you!

Horrible teacher... if you do HAVE to take it with her dont ever miss class... she will screw you over if you do. Her tests are not on what she talks about in class they are on the list of definitions she gives you. Biggest Bitch i have met at CSU

She is very scatter brain and doesn't give you enough time to write. The tests are pretty much all from the readings...

Pros: She makes it real clear what is going to be on exams.
She understands that this is a entry level class for non art majors and does not make you kill yourself over this class.
She doesn't like talking or electronics which i think is a plus but.
Cons: She doesn't like talking or electronics including laptops

Natalie is not a bad instructor, she's just not a good one either. Her lectures, while necessary, were completely unorganized. She also seemed to say the exact same thing about every piece of art and exaggerated the importance of practically every one we covered. Luckily for her, the class is incredibly easy and if you don't get an a, odds are you won't ever get one in college, this is as easy as it gets.

I really didn't like this class. But maybe that's because I got tired of hearing her desperate attempts to justify how artists really are important people in society...ahem...they're not. Oh and about how they have to know just as much as engineers! Ha! That was a good one! And it seemed like we focused on that more than what was actually on the test. She does tell you what will be on the test eventually, but a lot of the questions are actually from the book. The only real reason to go to class is in case she does a random in-class assignment. Otherwise prepare to be bored and mutter under your breath about how much money you're paying for such a worthless humanities class. I supposed I'm biased...but that's my take. Otherwise Natalie seemed nice, which counts for something I suppose.

She is very clear in grading policies! Basically, don't skip class because she gives random in-class assignments. Miss more than one and you're ineligible to turn in extra credit. Though this is strict, I think it helps weed out the slackers who are there for an "easy A." The class is interesting, but studying for tests is a nightmare. A lot of questions that are asked on the tests are irrelevant outside of class (sizes of artworks, types of mediums used), but overall a pretty cool class to take. She is a sweet lady but her expectations for a 100-level art lecture are high!

This professor is probably one of the most understanding I have had in a long while. I went through a great deal of pain this semester due to a death and she worked with me so I didn't fall behind in class. Her lectures are necessary, so go to them. She gave us a vocabulary sheet and anything on that vocab sheet was game to be on the test. She would also post review sheets for the exams that would highlight pieces of art to focus on and sections in the book to read. She gave a lot of opportunities for extra credit. You have to go to class because she does in class writings and pop quizes. Missing these hurt your grade!! Overall, great teacher and I would take a class with her again.
