Nowadays everyone has a hobby or something that they’re really great at doing. As a college student, I see lots of ways each and every one of us can benefit from our own creations. Most people believe that it takes hundreds or even thousands of dollars to start up a business doing what they actually love to do, but that’s not quite the case. The way social media is expanding every day has opened up many ways to set yourself up to get started. Some social media even provides layouts such as business pages, fan pages, or music pages for those of you who want to promote yourself. You may find difficulty in building in audience or fan base but that’s because no knows who you are yet– this part may take some time but it’s not impossible. Moreover, taking this route shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg because social media is free; so whatever your idea may be, bring it to the light and make it a reality. Here are a couple suggestions you should consider when promoting your brand or business:

DON’T be Afraid to Post Multiple Times

Numerous of studies have shown that you will be more effective by promoting the same content multiple times on social media. With multiple images and multiple headlines for your content, you can engage with your followers without them even knowing a link is to the same content you posted earlier. You can also promote your content through other social media as well with just one click; most apps have the ability to link all things together such as facebook, instagram, and twitter. As social media users, you don’t see most of your social media posts on any given day anyway, so consider posting multiple times to social media as a way to ensure your audience has a chance to see your content.

Embrace the Visuals and Headlines

We all know that anything you promote gets more attention when it has visuals tied to it with an eye catching headliner. It’s important to want to catch your viewers attention so that they can explore whatever it is you have to offer. Three of what are considered to be the newest social networks, pinterest, instagram, and snapchat, are based entirely on images. So in this case all you will need is a bomb headliner that will bring your audience in. Create not only a branded “featured image” to share with your post, but also create separate images and subtitles for each of the main points in your content so that they can be shared when you repeatedly post them to social media.

Engage With Your Audience
Once you have shared and promoted your content you should see some engagements on your posts. This is what you want — you want people to read your article and have something to say about it. If people are commenting on your article/post, you want to make sure that you are commenting back to them. This is how you build a strong audience: engagement. You want to make them feel appreciated for reading your work and as if the two of you are friends. These are the ones who will share and promote your brand to give you that bigger fan base. Be funny, be inspiring, know why your audience uses social media and what they like, know what they like away from social media if possible. Social media is a popular way to use direct marketing. This type of marketing allows you to connect one-on-one with your customer, speaking directly to the person who will eventually open his wallet and buy from you. With an opportunity like this, you want to capitalize on the connection. Engagement allows you to do that. Always engage with your viewers and they will always come back to return the love.

REWARDED CONTENT

There are many ways and other social media sites in which you can also be paid for the things that you promote or share. As a college student, I believe this is a great thing to do on the side because this is something that is beneficial and you can provide the content as an individual being that it’s your creation. For example, if you love music and make beats you can profit from that, if you have a neat skill you can also profit from that and even if you love to write there are sites that will reward you for that as well. Not everyone has a job or possess the tools that they will need such as a car to get around. Being able to make money from your home based on doing the things you love to do, is not only smart but creative. You can pretty much become your own entrepreneur in no time.
